This
three-mast sailing ship is named after the famous Italian explorer
Amerigo Vespucci. The Amerigo was built in 1931. The period during
World War II was the only time this ship has not been active.
She was designed after a 17th century warship and is still in
active service today as a training vessel in the Italian Naval
Academy.
